I am writing about writing on this blog.  I’m in the midst of a couple of projects, including  a novel I am trying to get published and another that I am working on.  Please enjoy my thoughts on writing, reading, and the adventure of trying to get published.

Writing is not all I do; I have a full-time job as well, where they often put my writing skills to good use.  I do judo and traditional jujutsu, work a second job just for fun (and the discount) and occasionally participate in local community theater.  My parrot and guinea pig and I currently live in Sioux Falls, SD; before that I spent nearly a decade in Texas, and I am originally from Illinois.

I can be contacted via email at leightownsend98 (at) gmail.com.  I’m also on Facebook!  www.facebook.com/LeighTownsend

Keep up the work, it is impressive to see how the words of your work keep pulling one into more of the story. You will be rewarded for your hard efforts!

P.S. I work with your dad, and he’s the greatest!

Hello Leigh! My friend Barb told me about your blog so I decided to have a look. I read the excerpts from your books and enjoyed them a lot. I like to think of myself as a writer but have lapsed of late, due to lack of time and motivation. One day I’ll get back to it. I have ac ouple of stories on my blog if you’re interested. They’re not really fantasy, but they’re nothing very serious!

I am too, on this journey, that is – I really look forward to reading about your adventures and misadventures in this industry. I have a blog on writing, as well, and I have the same feelings as one of your posts. Avoid the “how is your book coming along?” question – like the flipping plague! Good luck to us all.

    Hey Leigh!
As someone who’d love to write a book but hasn’t put nearly enough thought into it, I’d be interested to know how the whole writng process began for you. Did you have a spark of an idea and follow it through? Are you a planner or do you see how it goes? What about structure? For me, I think structure would prove the hardest part. No need to answer all these questions, but if you ever feel like writing a post about how you work these things out, I’d love to know 🙂

Good luck with the writing, you certainly have the talent! Plus anyone who names their blog Butterflies and Dragons is good value in my book (my gravatar shows one aspect of why I’d say that, but I love butterflies too, really anything with wings…). Looking forward to reading more from you. 🙂
