As of today we are past the deadline for two pending queries, both of which were of the ”respond only if interested” type. That means it’s time to add a couple of tally marks to the list of rejections and no responses.
We are now standing at the following count – Rejections: 4, Pending: 0, Still to Send: 6.
See that lovely zero, next to pending? This weekend it’s time to send a couple more query letters! I have to work tomorrow, to make up the day I lost on my adventure earlier this week. After that I’ll pull out the stack of index cards and peruse my agency options.

Ugh. Good luck. A friend of mine has been sending his YA novel out for several months now, and isn’t getting much in the way of responses.
Do you have anything published already, or is this your first go at the market?

Thanks for the luck!
I sent out several queries for my first novel, but opted to self-publish. I’m actually dismantling it and making it more books.
I’m hoping I have better luck with Dragon.

From the advice I’ve gotten from a few authors, it helps in the current market to point out your already-established market. If your current sales/distribution is good, make sure and point that out in your query letters.
