Today, for no particular reason, I have a puzzle for you.
Sarah has two pets, a bird named Pete and a dog named Lola.
Right now Pete is the same age that Sarah was six years ago.
Next year, Sarah will be three times as old as Lola.
In six years, Pete will be twice as old a Lola.
How old are they?

Three times/twice as old as Lola now, or Lola next year/in six years?

Add six years to both ages, then make the comparison.

In that case — *drum roll and a lot of staring at equations that keep fading in and out of sense* — Sarah’s 32, Pete’s 26, and Lola’s 10. Yes, yes?

Yes, nicely done.
